We treat addiction to drugs and alcohol, and addiction to gambling. The centre is in the Kyiv region, takes people from all over Ukraine and is open around the clock.
Addiction is an illness, not a lack of willpower and not moral failure. The World Health Organization recognised alcoholism and drug addiction as diseases back in 1956. It is a primary, progressive, chronic and fatal illness, and it affects a person's thinking, feelings, spiritual life and behaviour.
Everything else follows from that. An illness cannot be cured by persuasion, by shame or by house arrest. It is treated the way any other chronic condition is treated: with a programme, a structured routine and trained specialists.
What we run is a professional course of psychotherapy that draws on the twelve steps. The main tool is daily therapy groups, supported by individual sessions. The centre is Christian and part of the daily routine is given over to spiritual work, whatever a person's own faith.
We help the people around the addicted person as much as the person themselves: to understand what they are dealing with, and to see it as an illness that can be recovered from.
Families have a separate programme of family support and aftercare, delivered in person or remotely, by phone or video call. This is not an optional extra — it is part of the outcome. A family that changes nothing returns the person to exactly the environment they came from.
We draw no line by income or social standing. Successful business owners, doctors, police officers, soldiers and homemakers all end up trapped by addiction; the illness does not pick its victims by the size of their wallet.
People come to the centre from all over Ukraine: Kyiv, Odesa, Kharkiv, Lviv, Dnipro and other cities. The family can work with our specialists remotely, from their own home town.
We do not make the decision for anyone and we do not bring people in by force. But a refusal spoken out loud is almost never the final word: in those cases a motivational psychologist works with the person.
We do not promise “21 days and cured for life”, and we do not guarantee the outcome in advance. Rehabilitation takes a different length of time for every person, because the stage of the illness, the years of use and the person's condition are all different. We give you that length after we have spoken.
We do not guarantee lifelong sobriety. Nobody can guarantee another person's choices, and a centre that promises this is already being dishonest on the first phone call. What we genuinely can do is give a person a programme, a setting and a community in which sobriety holds.

Drug addiction, alcoholism and gambling addiction. These are three different illnesses with the same underlying mechanism, and the same programme works for all three.

I, Andrey, am now a former drug addict. My entire family struggled with this disease for a long time, but it kept coming back, and I started using again. I completed a rehabilitation course at the ISTOK Center. The center offered classes on specialized rehabilitation methods for addicts. The management and staff were positive and responsive, and everything contributed to my treatment and recovery. The center has a home-like atmosphere. Everything is thought out and calculated so that the addict can truly reflect on their problem and make the right choice, quitting alcohol and drugs. I recommend the ISTOK Center to anyone facing addiction and wanting to change their life for the better by making the right choice. Thank you again for your hard and necessary work and for instilling faith in people.
My name is Sergey, I live in Kharkiv, and I'm 39 years old. Alcohol abuse has been a long-standing problem for me. Recently, I've also become addicted to drugs. I couldn't quit on my own, not the first time, not even the hundredth time. Unfortunately, changing my life for the better was beyond my power. Based on reviews and advice from a friend who had already gone through a similar journey, I learned about the Istok rehabilitation center. The Istok rehabilitation center has restored me to a normal, active, social, and positive life! It has excellent conditions, knowledgeable staff, and the most professional and qualified addiction specialists and psychologists. Here I learned that alcohol addiction is a terrible disease, but by following certain rules, you can live a full life and never return to this addiction. With the help of this center, I returned to my family and work. Thank you so much for my life!

I was told that addiction is incurable, but it's possible to live happily with it; you just need to adopt new principles. Thanks to this center, I overcame all my problems. This is the center you should trust...
The consultation is free and anonymous. It is usually the family who call first rather than the person with the addiction — that is normal, and most recovery stories begin exactly there.
